From trial to paid
New workspaces start on a 14-day free trial. No card is required to start it.
What the trial includes
Every module is unlocked — Chat, FAQ API, Product Catalog, Escalation, and Documentation. Active module cards on the Billing page are marked Included in trial. The idea is that you evaluate the whole product, then pay for the parts you kept using.
The Billing page shows Trial days left and the Trial ends date while you're on it.
You still need your own AI key
The trial does not include model usage. There is no shared Promptly key: to chat during the trial you add your own provider key under Settings → AI Keys, exactly as you would on a paid subscription.
Until you do, the dashboard shows "Your assistant is inactive." and the widget replies with a temporary-unavailability message. See Adding a key and Why you bring your own key.

Before the trial ends
Open Settings → Billing and add the modules you want to keep. Each purchase goes through Paddle checkout — see Adding a module. Start with Chat; add the others in the same session or later, whenever you need them.
We email a reminder shortly before expiry (three days out, and again the day before), to the workspace owner's address.
There's no automatic conversion — nothing is charged when the trial ends, because we never took a card.
After the trial ends
If you don't subscribe, the workspace becomes read-only:
- the widget stops answering,
- knowledge, catalog, settings, and content can be viewed but not changed,
- the pages you need to get back in — Billing, AI Keys, notifications, and sign-in — keep working.
Nothing is deleted at expiry. Subscribe and the workspace comes straight back with your knowledge base, settings, and conversation history intact.
Choosing what to keep
- Chat is the base and always required.
- FAQ API pays off once you have real conversation volume to mine.
- Product Catalog matters if the bot answers product questions.
- Escalation and Documentation are per seat — count the people who'll actually use them (Seats).
If you're unsure, subscribe to Chat first. Adding a module later doesn't require a new checkout and is prorated immediately.
